Did you know?

Obesity is a prevalent health concern, affecting 41.9% of the US population (CDC, 2021). The rise in severe obesity from 4.7% to 9.2% underscores the urgency of addressing this issue.

Obesity isn't just a personal struggle; it's a societal challenge. Conditions like heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes are linked to obesity, contributing to preventable premature deaths.

Beyond health, obesity carries a hefty economic burden. In 2019, the annual medical cost in the US was a staggering $173 billion (CDC, 2021). Medical costs for individuals with obesity were $1,861 higher than those with a healthy weight.

Weight-loss with Semaglutide

Doctor image

What is Semaglutide?

First approved as a Type 2 diabetes treatment in 2017, Semaglutide is a highly effective stabilizer for one’s glycemic levels. This medication increases the patient’s insulin levels and reduces the secretion of the peptide hormone glucagon, leading to a stabilization of blood sugar levels.

Semaglutide causes a major reduction in appetite and food cravings, bringing glycemic balance to the body. While this medication is incredibly effective on its own, patients see the biggest changes when combining it with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Medication Delivery

Semaglutide patients have two treatment options: Sublingual Drops (Daily) Simply place the liquid under your tongue for one minute daily and then drink some water. Injections (Weekly) Inject the medication once a week using the instructions provided with your medication.

Medication Savings and Benefits

On average how much would you say you are spending on food every month?(This would include going out to dinner, beverages, etc.)

This medicine is a great money saver because it allows you to cut your food intake by half and you still experience the feeling of being full.

We have also seen patients’ other health conditions improve after taking this medication consistently. Many are able to cut out other medications after they’ve lost the weight. And that not only saves them money, but it also improves their quality of life!

Our Process

We are FitWest and we work with various providers to facilitate payments and order medications.

Here is how the process works:

  1. You visit your Provider and they recommend semaglutide or tirzeplatide. Your Provider submits a prescription for the appropriate medication.
  2. FitWest sends you a text message facilitating your payment. We can process payment other ways if needed. We can be reached at info@thefitwest.com or 469.210.7828
  3. Once payment is processed, the prescription is submitted to a top-notch US registered compounding pharmacy. The order should arrive at your home within 3-5 business days.
  4. Ensure that you have some syringes that you have bought. You can get them from a local pharmacy or online – this is the most affordable option available to you. Diabetic syringes work perfectly.
  5. The medication is delivered to your home for first use. Follow the guidance provided with the medication. You can find some injection instructions and a presentation below. Most patients will titrate to the appropriate level of medication. Titration means adjusting from smaller doses to larger dosages. Refrigerate after drawing the medication.
  6. Take the medication each week as instructed. Report any severe reactions. Some side effects are expected, such as nausea.
  7. The medication is automatically ordered so that it will be available for your next month. If you do not want to proceed you just need to cancel before the order is made.
  8. Your Provider determines the number of refills that you will receive. Once you have received your last refill, we will remind you that you will need an updated prescription to continue receivine the medication each month.

Frequently Asked Questions

    General Information

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are medications used to manage obesity. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, while tirzepatide is a dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist. Both help regulate blood sugar levels and support weight loss.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide work by mimicking the action of incretin hormones, which help lower blood sugar levels by increasing insulin release, reducing glucagon release, and slowing gastric emptying. This leads to improved blood sugar control to aid in weight loss.

    Injection Information

Both medications are administered via subcutaneous injection. Semaglutide is typically injected once a week, while tirzepatide's dosing schedule can vary but is also usually a once-weekly injection. Sublingual or oral medications are also available.

Common injection sites include the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. It's important to rotate injection sites to avoid skin irritation and other complications.

If you miss a dose of semaglutide or tirzepatide, take the missed dose as soon as you remember, provided it is within 5 days for semaglutide and within 4 days for tirzepatide. If it’s too close to your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take double doses.

    Side Effects and Safety

Common side effects of both medications include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. These side effects often decrease over time as your body adjusts to the medication.

Serious side effects can include pancreatitis, kidney problems, and allergic reactions. If you experience severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, or signs of an allergic reaction (such as rash, itching, or difficulty breathing), seek medical attention immediately.

    Long-Term Use

These medications are intended for long-term use. Your healthcare provider will monitor your progress and determine the best duration of treatment for you.

Yes, incorporating a healthy diet and regular exercise is important for maximizing the benefits of semaglutide and tirzepatide. These lifestyle changes can help improve blood sugar control and support weight loss.

    Other Considerations

It's best to limit alcohol intake, as it can affect your blood sugar levels and increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Discuss your alcohol consumption with your healthcare provider for personalized advice.

Contact your healthcare provider if you experience side effects or have any concerns about your medication. They can provide guidance and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

Store your medication in the refrigerator. Do not freeze. If necessary, you can keep semaglutide at room temperature for up to 30 days and tirzepatide for up to 21 days. Always check the manufacturer's instructions for specific storage guidelines.

The medication will still be good and work effectively as noted above.

    Prescription Cost

No, we currently only accept payments from patients and do not accept insurance.
